The Story Behind The Story
Michelle Krusmark has been happily married to her husband Shane for over 25 years and they share two fun-filled, adventurous children. She loves to surround herself with friends and family, hang out at the lake, see her children excel at life, and most of all, create new goodies in the kitchen to share. She has always had a passion for making people smile. This passion started as a hairstylist and owning her own salon for more than 20 years. During this time, there were many smiles to share and it was a joy to listen to people, in good times, bad times, and everything in between. Through this experience, she learned what it means to really listen to people.
Michelle grew up in Colorado and has fond memories of her parents frequently inviting guests over to gather and share food, laughter, and love. When her parents moved to Bozeman, Montana, those that she had grown to love during those gatherings, often mentioned how much they missed the great food and gatherings that her parents offered. As a result, Michelle and her family took enjoyment in opening her home to guests both new and old to share in cooking and parties. Both Michelle and her husband Shane would whip up new creative dishes and have guests try them out. After her mom’s passing, she became even more intrigued with trying to master recipes (which she knows makes her mom smile from up above).
Shane and Michelle developed a true passion and talent for creating new and exciting foods. In the midst of experimenting, Michelle created what some will say is the best Salsa in the West! Moe’s salsa originated in Michelle’s home kitchen and grew into so much more. She now has quite a following and many orders to fill whenever she makes a batch. She has used the proceeds to go towards children’s fundraising efforts and loves to hear all of the great feedback after people try it. Shane has always had a passion for flavors and smoking foods. He has since launched his line of rubs called BackYard Daddy Rubs. This is exploding in popularity and is being introduced into a few local stores.
Michelle’s way of expressing her love has manifested through the sharing of her great specialty, gourmet recipes. Michelle loves the holidays and loves giving gifts. Because of this passion, she is absolutely thrilled to own and operate Olive and Herb and share all of her gifts in one place! The quality product, great conversations and cooking classes give her clients the same feeling that her loved ones get in her kitchen at home. She looks forward daily to seeing many smiling faces, sharing in the laughter, swapping recipe stories, and getting others as excited as she is about creating delicious food for the ones that they love.
After the initial store opening in Windsor, Colorado, Shane and Michelle found a location and started to expand into the Loveland area. With this location, it became extremely busy, and with a family to attend to, they decided to sell the little hidden gem in Windsor and work hard at making Loveland their new home. In this journey there became many mountains to climb as the community needed more of Michelle’s time. Shane and Michelle found a team of like minded partners with the same ambition for food and to grow with them.
